How To Enter Our Giveaways

Entering our giveaways is really, really easy. Please take 2 minutes to read over this page and you’ll be racking up entry points in no time!

For each giveaway (unless otherwise posted) you can earn as many entry points as you are willing. However, you cannot earn any bonus entry points unless you first earn a required entry point.

Required Entry Point:

  1. Post on facebook
  2. Tweet on twitter
  3. Refer a friend… or two… or three…
  4. Post our giveaway on a forum
  5. Make us laugh!

Comment on this blog (1 required entry)

Each contest will list specific instructions on what to include in your comment to make it valid. When submitting a comment be sure to use your real name and a real email address (so we can email you if you win).

Bonus Entry Points:

Post on facebook (1 bonus entry)

Comment on our facebook status.

Tweet on twitter (1 bonus entry)

Press the green retweet button. Make sure your tweet says @givingitaway and not @tweetmeme.

Refer a friend… or two… or three… (3 bonus entry points per referral)

Every new participant that comments on www.givingitaway.ca for the first time and mentions your name in their comment earns you three bonus entry point.

Post our giveaway on a forum (3 bonus entry points)

If you are a member of a forum you can earn three bonus entry points for posting our giveaway. Let us know in a comment that you posted on a forum and provide a link for verification.

Make us laugh! (Maximum of 2 bonus entry points per person per contest)

Make us laugh with funny comments, posts and/or tweets. Here are some examples to get your creative juices flowing:

Facebook: I really hope that I win the new Alienware laptop that Giving It Away is offering because I’m sick of all the girls laughing at me at LAN parties!

Twitter: Chuck Norris once saved the world using only round house kicks and a cool Blackberry he won from @givingitaway http://bit.ly/2nb9Br

Note: When making custom tweets make sure your tweet includes “@givingitaway” and a link to the contest page (use this service to shorten the url a page).

Be sure to let us know your facebook and twitter user names through either a comment or an email to support@givingitaway.ca. You only need to do this once so we can associate your name with your facebook and twitter user names. You must be a fan of Giving It Away and following @givingitaway to be eligible for facebook and twitter bonus entry points, respectively.

    I have checked out your page and love the part where you don’t consider this your site, it’s our site. You don’t need me to tell you, but I will anyway…the both of you has made this blog nice just by what you wrote and giving things away to others.

    How will I know if my friends join? All we do is tweet like chickens anyway, so like who will know? Oh, I like your name even though with my name ya dont know who I am on Twitter!!

      Well, first things first you just need to tell us your twitter name. You can do it in a post, over email, send it by carrier pigeon.

      Then you just need to get your friends to say “Ellen Beck” or “yourtwittername” referred me. You can get creative with your tweets and add “tell them Ellen Beck sent you” or whatever you want.

      Before each draw we send out an email and update every participant on how many points they earned so you’ll always have a chance to say “hey wait I got x amount of points instead of y!”

    Two (more questions)

    1. Can we really get NEGATIVE points like poor Johnny there?

    2. Even if we post more than 2 tweets, is that okay? I mean, I know we can’t get more points, but I’d do it to refer friends and hope they mention me (which means more point for me in that category)

      2. The more tweets the better! Chances are really, really good that if you are actively tweeting or spreading the word you’ll get 1 or 2 bonus creative entry points! :)
